A minimalist room is injected with color, shape and texture by one graphic quilt.
by Emily McCall
This isn't your mother's macramé! Take things one step further and drape your room in fiber. While this probably would be impractical in your living room, it could be a whimsical way to liven up an event.

Crafts are often handed down through generations. Reimagine your grandmother's quilt by letting it hang out on an eclectic sofa.

Suzani Quilt [ Link ]
Suzanis aren't typically quilted, but both textiles are hugely popular right now, so why not combine them into one gorgeous showstopper?

Rough Linen I have linens, embroideries and tatting from my grandmother's house, a christening robe and wedding ring shawl - treasure them all. I gave the magnificent Paisley shawl to my sister, as it suits her house better.

defever I'm into quilting -- bed spreads, lap throws, wall hangings, place mats, etc. Each piece evokes the mood I was in when I chose the pattern and/or fabric. And my style is all over the board, too!

kdelano Anything labor-intensive grabs my attention, probably because I got deeply involved with crafting when I lived on a boat as a little girl. Recently I purchased a stack of circular hand-crocheted pieces for 25 cents each at a yard sale. I have no idea what I'll eventually do with them but they needed a home where they would be valued. My love for knots and design has led to a business. Visit www.LeatheredPearls.com and request a discount from me: kendradel@gmail.com.

defever olldbob: I didn't have patience either. Then we moved onto a 38' boat and cruised from British Columbia to Zihuatanejo, Mexico and back...no internet, no TV, no radio...nothing but Mother Nature's beauty and the hum of our engine. Away from the rat race called life, you begin to unwind and relax. That 38' boat turned out to be our home for over 10 years. Absolutely loved the water life, now back on land, having spent the last 3 years building our 950 sq. ft. house. We moved in 2 mos. ago. Quilting is now therapy for me.
