Now that January is in the past, party season is again upon us. Let the celebrations begin! Celebrations are times for sharing special moments with family and friends, like weddings, anniversaries and birthdays. Other parties are just for the fun of it. Parties in my town start with the Super Bowl and then just keep on coming until Christmas again. Some parties are for schools, charities and churches and are commonly known as "party book" events.

| 4. Movie-Night Party Oscar night is February 24 in 2013. It's a great time to focus on movies. This is a gathering my kids love. This works great if you have a media room or just a big-screen TV. Make tickets and collect them at the door when the kids arrive. |
Have lots of traditional movie treats, like popcorn, licorice and soda pop. Although not the healthiest treats for kids, every once in a while they make movie night even more special.
Real popcorn boxes are available at most party stores or online. Personalize the boxes by writing everyone's name on them.

I like to host a grazing party, lots and lots of finger foods. I make a bunch with a theme, like Peruvian delights, or Alaska bounty, and everyone brings something. We make sure to have crudites for those who wish to munch without a lot of calories. We serve wines, teas, and coffee, and end with a theme dessert tray, like baklava, or Russian treats. We set out lots of napkins, small plates and several different serving areas. People wander around and try different things, compare notes, meet new people and a lot of conversation groups get going. I put out recipes for a few of my special plates.
At a middle eastern market near me, they have a huge selection of different olives with different stuffings and marinades, and I think I may have the basis for another party, Olive sampler with middle eastern treats.
Yes to Poker night.

Yes to concert.
Now all I need to do is get some friends over; loving these ideas here.
