Britastina When I was a child, my Aunt and Uncle lived in a saltbox in rural Massachusetts. The house was built in the late 1600's. The kitchen's interior wall was a walk-in fireplace, the exterior wall had a trough with a pump for water (there was an additional pump just outside the back door. The stairs to the second floor were just wide enough for one person at a time to climb them. We would spend summers there and they were the best times of my life. I just adore saltboxes. As soon as my relatives built a modern house (indoor plumbing and all) across the street, the old house was sold and turned into a museum. To this day I daydream about that old house.
