I have been working on several kitchen and bath projects lately, and one detail that I have noticed making the rounds is the idea of pushing back or removing the toe kick on the front of base cabinetry and adding some sort of foot. I love the look, and over the past couple of weeks I have collected several different styles and sizes of pieces that would work for such an application. — Stephanie from SabbeSpot

I am using this in a current bathroom renovation. The base will be completely removed, and these will be added to all four corners.

This would be fun painted a glossy and bright color for a play on new versus old.

I could imagine jazzing up a piece of Ikea furniture with this one. It's much prettier than a square block.

This one is for those pieces that just don't look right on dainty-looking legs. The detail along the top gives it some nice interest.

This would be great for a kitchen cabinet makeover in which you do not want to actually move any existing parts.

This leg would be nice to give some height to an existing piece. I think it would be fun to paint the bottom portion a different color, giving it the dipped look.

This would be another fun painting project. Imagine the rings in different shades and the bottom piece in a metallic gold.

I like this one because it's large, but it also has very feminine lines.

Here's a classic. It would work well on a smaller piece of furniture.

Ball and claw is classic — but also kind of kitschy. I would love to see a cheap Ikea sofa on a ball and claw foot. It would be an awesome juxtaposition.

This one is heavy at the bottom, as opposed to most of the other styles I have collected.

Here's another ball and claw, and with a scroll detail at the top. I'm calling it: I think this is going to be a new trend, but in fun, funky colors.

I love this style in a deep, rich stain.

Here is one more where the majority of the visual weight is at the bottom. Sometimes larger pieces really need this type of style, or they look like the are one use away from breaking the legs.

For those wanting stylish old feet and legs, try Craigslist and/or Kijiji or your local junk shop; there's always plenty of tacky smelly old furniture lurking there.....with splendid feet, ripe for repurposing after a quick scrub and a lick of paint or varnish.
