Guest Picks: Jazz Age–Inspired Holiday Accessories
Sparkle and shine are staples of 1920s style, inspiring glamorous holiday decor for 2012
I am a designer living and working in New York City. I write Fourth Floor Walk Up as a means of expression to document inspiration, projects and the design evolution of my home. I am greatly influenced by the city around me and although New York is expensive and hard on the 99%, I believe that everyone can have a great refuge to come home to – some of us just have to work a little bit harder to attain it.
DECORATING
I grew up within a household centered around decorating with the interest being past down through several generations. My grandmother, mother and I have all had the ability to see spaces for what they are and what they could become. I tend to focus on smaller spaces with modest budgets because I believe a little bit of blood, sweat and tears can make a sweeter home.

Scott Fitzgerald's novel The Great Gatsby, and the '20s-inspired holiday windows lining Fifth Avenue in stores like Bergdorf Goodman and Henri Bendel, there must be something in the air. The Jazz Age was an era that sparkled and glittered. Let's fall back to "The Era of Wonderful Nonsense," a period when entertainment and leisure activities were highly valued. Inspired by the lifestyle of the Roaring Twenties, this ideabook references the flapper fashions and art deco details for a curated collection of chic and glamorous holiday decorations.
