Instead of placing ornaments on a tree, why not make a tree out of ornaments? This clever, adorable craft, courtesy of Amy from Into Vintage, makes great use of clearance-sale ornaments and an old window screen.
Ornament Tree
Beautify your fireplace mantel by dressing it up. Here, a traditional green wreath gets a remix, and a festive sleigh gets filled to the brim with favorite bright, seasonal accessories.
by Mustard Seed Interiors
Hanging ornaments from a tree is so typical. Instead, use ceiling beams (if you have them) to display these sparkly globes, but be sure to use strong wire or ribbon so nothing falls from the sky.
Contemporary Family Room
If you don't have room to celebrate Christmas with a full-fledged tree, opt for this cute, bite-size one instead. Fill a vase with painted branches, color-coordinated ornaments and some sort of sturdy foundation, like pebbles or rice.
by Atypical Type A
Enhance your outdoor holiday decor by hanging ornaments from a front porch or trees. If the weather in your area is harsh, use plastic instead of glass and hang pieces with thick red ribbon or heavy-duty wire.
by Colleen Steixner
Bring a contemporary twist to your holiday wreath by using ornaments instead of greenery and winterberries. Becky from Matt & Becky used a Styrofoam wreath, red ribbon and a hot-glue gun to make this colorful, fun decoration.
Ornament Wreath
Place ornaments in a bowl for a quick, last-minute centerpiece. Paired with snowflake dishes and purple accents, this table setting brings plenty of holiday cheer without seeming over the top.
by FOCAL POINT STYLING
Welcome your houseguests the right way by placing oversize ornaments in a weatherproof étagère. Add some greenery and lights for additional Christmas spirit.
by Hydrangea Home
Enhance an already festive fireplace by draping Mardi Gras beads and ornaments along your mantel. If you just can't get enough, use ornament hooks to string pieces from the bead garland as well.
by Savvy Seasons
Bring a trendy twist to your seasonal get-together by opting for an ornament-laden centerpiece. Shelley from The House of Smiths used branches, small picture frames, a tray and globe-filled hurricanes to create this conversation starter.
Small Ornament Centerpiece
For those who live in warmer climates, bring your entertaining outdoors by hanging ornaments from your trees. It will still feel like Christmas, even if there's no snow in sight.

catclawrose When one of my antique,(or even the new !), Christmas ornaments broke, I used to toss them. No good anymore, right ? Not now ! I save them all, and crush them carfully, into the smallest possible pieces,(if you're going to be safety-concious, you might want to don safety glasses and heavy gloves), and store them in a plastic bin. When I need glitter to use on a project, i......go to the box ! There's just a hint of color in the crushed mass, and you can make a LOT of fun things, using what used to be "unsalvageable" glass !

judyg Now that the kids are grown and gone, we are decorating less. These wonderful ideas have given me a boost. Going to get out my old favorites and just do a vignette. Particularly love the idea of the window screen framing some old ornaments. Thanks for this post.

Fine Art & Portraits by Laurel There were a lot of cute ideas in this article. I'm Jewish, so I did my fun decorating during Succot, but I enjoy seeing what you guys do.

samsamyd I love the window screen & ornament tree. When I lived in a small apartment that didn't have room for an actual Christmas tree, I used to decorate with lights, and ornaments on paper wrapped dowels. Thank heaven for "Command Strip" hangers!

punkinhead Hannukah decor on a door can be easy - try using the window screen idea but make a Star of David design instead of the tree, or decorate a wreath with greenery and ribbons and small items that signify your faith and traditions such as toy dreidels. I see blue and silver used a lot as Hannukah colors, but I'm not sure what the root of that is.

I have a non-traditional wreath made from an elaborate, gold plastic picture frame. I have put a large bow on top and hung it on our door. You could do the same thing, and leave it empty as I did, or stencil or hand-letter a sign of welcome to go in it that supports your holiday wishes and thoughts this season. Have fun!

Decorating the front door for Hanukkah, the original point of outdoor lights and decorations was to brighten up the darkest time of the year. we can decorate outdoors with blue and white led lights, string lights, treetopia hanukkah bush with blue led lights and also with candles because candle-lighting is a beautiful part of Hanukkah tradition.

Ljiljana Pejic I was so impressed with Christmas tree made from old ornaments on the chicken wire, I had to use idea..I have a friend who every year gets so tired and exhausted days before Christmas that she doesn’t put her tree up..so this year I made her one that she will just need to take out of the bag and hang – I had old frame with plywood backing which I sprayed in blue & black, added some sparkles while it was wet and then hot-glued everything ! I pushed the tree to one side so that little snowflakes can have space to shine...Thank you for the idea, I hope she loves it too!
