Delft blue and chartreuse. This might be the color combination for you if you like to be reminded of the sea. It's a cool and casual combination that works best in spaces with lots of sunshine.
by Tobi Fairley Interior Design
Red and turquoise. This is a case of opposites attracting. The warm vibe of red is cooled by turquoise, a favorite water color. Consider this palette for a guest bedroom. I think walls in red, like Benjamin Moore's Country Redwood, would be fun too.
by Rachel Reider Interiors
Pumpkin orange and blue. I've said it a hundred times: Orange looks good with everything. I really love it here with blue. This combination feels sort of vintage to me. I especially like the global vibe of these floor pillows with this color palette.
by Deborah French Designs
Aqua and coral. This is one of my all-time favorite palettes; these two colors always feel fresh to me. They remind me of Miami in summer. Can you see a flamingo against an aqua-blue sky?
by Tobi Fairley Interior Design
Apricot and brown. This soft shade of orange feels like a neutral, especially when paired with brown. Together they have a subtle kick. Consider this palette for a casual reading spot or master bedroom. These colors look great with lots of nubby linen fabrics.
by Cecilie Starin Design Inc.
Warm gray and pale blue. Pair gray that has warm undertones with a soft blue in a room with bright light. Try Revere Pewter HC-172 by Benjamin Moore for the perfect warm gray. This is a common palette for a Swedish-style interior.

French blue and pale yellow. If you are looking for a very traditional palette, these colors are for you. This palette looks great with warm woods and pale walls.
by Tucker & Marks
Soft plum and turquoise. I've shown a soft plum velvet here, but really any plum looks great with turquoise. Try to pair similar weights of color for the best result.
by Charmean Neithart Interiors, LLC.
Black and gold. This is an elegant and grown-up palette. I love to use small doses of black in every room, as it anchors the space. Use black as a base, then build up with lighter colors. Gorgeous!
by Tucker & Marks
Red and pink. If you love Valentine's Day, here is your palette. Red is warm and serious; the pink softens it up a bit. Additionally, the red keeps the pink from feeling like a child's space.
by Artistic Designs for Living, Tineke Triggs
Orange and hot pink. What could be a happier color combination than orange and hot pink? This palette isn't for the faint of heart. It's bold and whimsical. Consider this great color combination for a tween girl's room or a room with bright white walls.
by Laura U, Inc.
Rainbow. Just can't decide on a room palette because you love all colors? Yes, a rainbow palette can work if you are a true color enthusiast. Notice that this designer cleverly paired the colors as they actually appear in the rainbow.

Lanie Brown Well, my flooring guy, who has an amazing eye for design and whom I did not consult about wall color, has me second-guessing my & my husband's color selection for master bedroom paint. I don't see our palette here, but we're usually a season or so ahead of fashion, so maybe I'll get affirmation eventually...

olldbobbi Love the red and turquoise, but I think the red has to be just right to pull it off. And it's funny, I've been thinking about creating a summer look for my bathroom but I couldn't decide between aqua and coral, now I can do both !!! Thanks, Charmean !

Lanie! What is your master bedroom paint color?
Lanie Brown Thanks for asking, olldbobbi. The master is BM riviera azure. The master bath is BM rich cream with BM blue nova in the tub surround. Window treatments in the inspiration fabric were delivered yesterday, so the tub surround and chandelier should really sparkle when I get those installed. The master had been red and we grew tired of it, but I had to work with the hard surfaces in the master bath which we selected when we were planning the red/gold palette. Also, we selected new carpet yesterday so that awful carpet in the pics will be replaced soon.

olldbobbi Lanie, pretty colors! I love your bed, it's gorgeous. Very good choices :))

Lanie Brown Thanks, olldbobbi; I love my bed too. That gold chair is kinda domineering, but I settled it down with the throw pillow. We decided on carpet and just ordered fabrica Montage in banana cream. I will post again when we get the window treatments up. This involves measuring and re-fastening the brackets in a new position, so can't rush hubby if I want it done right without extra holes in the walls.

Tile-Stones Love the aqua and coral together, although I would choose a coral that's less red and more peach. Still a pretty combo though :)

Jody Thompson I found my color palette through various photos on Houzz. The gray is Valspar Mark Twain Gray Brick and the other is Valspar Aged Amber.

greengirl It's impossible to choose. I love them all. As a gardener I had to have many different plants in many types of gardens to satisfy the urge. With a new house now, its like a kid in the candy store.

Suellen Valetta I love the apricot and brown. Very classy.
Also the aqua and coral is is very appealing. I am currently deciding on wall paint for my greatroom. I love green and have been considering pale turquoise walls for an apricot/coral, apple green and turquoise color scheme.
Charmean Neithart Interiors, LLC. Hi Suellen. There is a color called turquoise mist #695 by Benjamin Moore that I would suggest to you for what you are describing. Here it is in this small bedroom...

It's a beautiful pale turquoise, looks beutiful with coral.
Hope that helps and thank you for your comments.

sclawson I love them all, and especially like the apricot and brown. Very classy and very restful for a master bedroom, I'd think. We just redid our master in aqua and tan, with inspiration from this Houzz photo:
. Don't have a coffered ceiling or fireplace, and we did not paint our ceiling, but it still turned out beautifully. This color combo just seems so restful to me. It was especially fun because I used some much loved accessories usually seen in other parts of my house in this new bedroom. It's a novelty to see them in new surroundings and makes me fall in love with them all over again.

Charmean Neithart Interiors, LLC. Hi sclawson. Great inspiration picture. That is beautiful, try to post some pictures of your space. We'd love to see. Thank you for your comments. Charmean Neithart

Casart Coverings I admit I'm a traditionalist and partial to the French blue and yellow, which are the colors in my kitchen and adjoining den. Living in New Orleans, I am surrounded by a plethora of black and gold but shy away from those colors for my personal use.

Rio Brewster So it's OK that my kitchen walls are red and my adjacent dining room is teal?

Not that I needed affirmation or anything. ;^)

olldbobbi Rio, we need PICTURES! hehehe

Kimberly Niesz Beautiful color combos! I really like the apricot and brown, I think it would be lovely with weathered wood tones.
And the aqua and coral is so pretty. ("fresh" describes it perfectly)
We used a similar palette in our master bedroom and just love it!

Carole Loved your ideas!! I am hoping you can help me--I am at a loss for ideas. I have hundreds of paint chips and still can't decide. I have pine walls, yellowish shade and need to decide a color for the ceiling and one wall. The pine is run horizontal for half of the wall and there is a molding and vertical for the lower half. I have the room furnished with an old hosure, pie safe, bread table. My kitchen cabinets are knotty alder--I know alot of wood! Could you please help me and suggest several colors to try. I would be eternally grateful! Carole from southern Utah
6 months ago · ·
Rio Brewster I'm thinking earthy greens and browns - maybe a soft teal. Post some pics in Design Dilemmas!
Charmean Neithart Interiors, LLC. Hi Carole from Utah. Have you ever thought of white washing the pine to break up all the wood? Then you can bring it other colors in fabrics and rugs.

Hope that helps. Charmean Neithart

Charmean Neithart Interiors, LLC. Hi Amy. Thank you so much. That means so much to me, really thank you. I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I also thought the pictures were just gorgeous. I loved the apricot and brown, that's the room I would want to be in. Thank you for your comments. Your input is greatly appreciated. Charmean Neithart

Barbara Carlomagno Our dining room is turquoise and red. White woodwork, red painted fireplace, turquoise walls. Have never tired of it.

Rio Brewster Olldbob asked for them...

It's hard to see but the dining room pendant has red in it and the ones over the sink and breakfast table have red and teal.

olldbobbi Wow, Rio! Very nice!

Rio Brewster Thanks! I don't know how people live with all beige/white walls.

The Agave canvas looks amazing on the red wall too. I might switch that with the irises in the future.

frenchdecor Dear Rio whatever you like is okay, but if you would need affirmation (or if you'll get tired of your pallet in future) I would say good color combination, especially bold and dark, doesn't mean splash it all over the walls. I see through the entrance door it's day time, your lights are all on and it still dark inside, seems you don't have enough natural light for such colors. Not necessary beige and white, for vast areas there are tints of colors, muted (dusty) easy to eye and still colorful. Very often I see color suggestions just "out of blue" no questions asked South, or N, W, E ... facing, if there a lot of natural light...? Color is science and has it's psychological effect on people, many don't realize it. Paint North facing room with a little natural light GRAY and you'll have "wolf cave", or where yellow will warm and brighten it up a bit. Opposite example, South facing room with gray walls could be pretty and yellow, too bright and sunny. With accessory colors less problem.

mallorybeach In the black & gold living room by Tucker & Marks, could you tell me the manufacturer and name of the gold walls. It is just stunning.

Charmean Neithart Interiors, LLC. Hi Mallory. I suggest you post a question on that particular picture and hopefully someone from Tucker and Marks will get back to you. I agree, it's a gorgeous space. Thank you for your comments. Charmean Neithart

waterbabies Yum! I agree with greengirl "impossible to choose"!!! So many gorgeous colour schemes, so little time!! :D

Rio Brewster @french decor

I wasn't looking for affirmation, I was joking about that. I just happen to love bold colors. Always have. To me, beige is depressing and pastels are boring.

If you must know, it was 7AM when I took the pictures and all the shades were drawn to avoid glare in the photo. I am aware of the exposures and chose the colors accordingly after testing them at different times of the day.

It's my house. I love it.

I doubt I'll tire of the palette. If I do, it's just paint - easier to change than uphostery and cheaper than drapes.

But you can bet I won't be painting anything in my house "griege". Ever.

trasgorshek Our main floor is compact and open so I carried a variation of the same color scheme throughout for continuity: grey, cream, blue and recently with accents of black (mainly in the living and dining room). But, of course with Christmas upon us, there is now evergreen with mercury glass and gold mixed in as well. :)

bygeorgi woah!...Rio...there's alot going on there....I love color too and but I'm sorry needs something cohesive in style or scale... I see spindly against bulky, two wall colors with the same intensity fighting each other, traditional, transitional, modern, country, southwest??? Color alone can't bring all that together.

hunsingere Lanie, Move your gold chair to the corner on an angle, then you should have room to place the ottoman in front of it without impeding traffic flow. It will be a nice place to sit and read with the light from the window, a cozy corner spot. I think your paint color is pretty.

Rio Brewster I was not asking for advice or critiques. I'm not posting this as part of a portfolio or as an example of great design.

I only posted the pics because someone asked to see them. I'd take them down if houzz would let me.

I happen to love the colors. I love how they look together, but the angle of the photo was from far back in the corner next to the TV - not an angle you would normally see.

My taste is whimisical by choice - eclectic only because I can't afford to buy all new furniture every time we move. We downsized dramatically when we moved and - like most folks - I'm working with what I have, none of which was purchased for this house.

In six months we have redone the kitchen counters, backsplash, sink, faucet and appliances and completely gutted and rebuilt the master bath. We love the changes - we are making the house ours.

Over time this will evolve into a more cohesive look, and I will ask for advice from houzzers along the way. When I want help, I will post to Design Dilemma and ask for it.

For now, I am taking a well deserved break and enjoying my house - done for me and my family and nobody else.

bygeorgi Rio.... sorry , I meant no offense... I didn't read above, thought you were asking for room advice. I'm in the same boat, trying to make things come together on a budget, my budget being microscopic tho... always a work in progress. * : ) But someday I'm sure the destination is gonna be lovely.

springlering Rio, if YOU love it, place the rest of us on ignore. My neighbor-in-law (long story) has a stroke every time he and his wife come over to my house. He always has something to say, usually that my house gives him a headache. I 've learned to ust nod politely to keep the peace, and silently give all my stuff a mental hug, while casting his wife a pitying glance. She's not even allowed to have pictures on the walls, poor dear. Each to their own, ya know.
Lanie Brown Thanks, hunsingere. Actually, the chair faces the window so when I sit there I look out to the front yard rather than into the room, and it's positioned far enough from the window that I can swing the plantation shutters open for a full view. My husband hung the window treatments last night, and for now everything is moved for new carpet installation this morning!

Suellen Valetta Thank you for the turquoise color recommendation. I have procrastinated paining my great room as I am undecided on a color.

My townhouse has an open plan so much of the rest of the house is visible from the great room including the master suite. The kitchen and master are a soft salmon coral. I recently painted my foyer, hall and staircase a bright green, the same color I have and love as accents in the great room. Second floor comp room is blue and guest and hall are a softer shade of the green. My porch, laundry and patio are adobe coral.

The great room has minimal natural light. The vaulted ceiling is 12+ feet at the peak. The walls are currently white with the slightest tint of salmon, but I am tired of the white after 20 years. The wood is cherry, sofa pearly white leather, with 2 black leather chairs; floors are limestone throughout. It's a tropical mix of craftsman, rattan contemporary as I live in Florida.

I have considered colors from grey, mauve, and blue. The aqua/coral is definitely a great choice to coordinate with the existing colors. Definitlely paining in January. So any suggestions are appreciated. I have a few pics hope it helps with suggestions.
