This year I've had the privilege of compiling the best renovation details on Houzz into renovation-related ideabooks. Throughout 2012 I've delved into the intricacies of Craftsman architecture, dissected exterior architectural detailing and even gotten spicy with 50 Shades of Gray.
Smith & Vansant Architects' Lake Fairlee, Vermont, house neatly incorporates the elements of 10 of these ideabooks. The impeccably constructed summer residence and carriage house boast a bevy of architectural details, including 10 of my favorite ones featured in 2012.

bkdale Like the foot to foot twins. However, how difficult are they to made/ change the linen? Would like to copy idea but not the inconvience of them to remake each day.

astraea Love the location! I've never seen casement windows that looked like they were double hungs .. neat! Love awning windows; used to have them in my other house, and miss them now .. especially with a very small overhang. When it rains, with casements you can't have the windows open at all!

Diana Bier Interiors, LLC I've done the same thing in a vacation house--the twin beds end to end--because of the narrowness of the room. It is practical and functional, and not a problem to make the beds because they move easily.

lc29 I may have to steal that idea of casement windows that mimic sash windows, they would look great in my house. Any info on the brand used?

Fine Art & Portraits by Laurel What a pretty home, full of good ideas. The screened-in porch is lovely, so much nicer than the huge cheap ones you see in Florida.

missicamps My favorite would be 2, first the light in the upstairs hallway, and the green color chosen for the study/desk cabinetry. the enclosed screened in back wrap around porch though is off the charts!
