csr1954 I guess I'm not a fan of the "rustic look" I do have a rocking chair-that I bought before my first child was born, but I'm not a fan of antlers, or other stuffed things; Mason jars used for anything but canning or storing items, or a bucket as a sink. I think this is trying too hard to be something you are not.

frogfruit I buy my little dog these antler chews (naturally shed) to chew on, they are hard as rocks. My housekeeper found them on the floor and added them to my fossil collection on the mantle! I didn't realize until a guest was holding it up saying how cool that "antler fossil" was.

Gail I adore rustic (just come see my house). For those who don't like it, that is ok you have your style and that is what makes life fun. I don't like modern. I have a tree stump coffee table, leather chairs, antiques, concrete floors, wood walls, ceilings and trim, tin walls, tin ceiling in the master, beams (rustic logs). I am so glad we all have different taste, makes things more interesting.

sclawson Make sure your antlers have been gathered from those naturally shed. Or, I really love the cardboard versions out there that mimic animal heads. Haven't bought any yet, but so fun to look at!

inkwitch There are aspects of rustic that I like: repurposed wood used anywhere, rocking chairs, I even know someone who made a bathroom sink out of a tin bucket! I photograph derelict shacks and print them in sepia (or B/W). I'm building a barn door for my kitchen due to lack of space for any other type. I like a little rustic, but I sure hope this was tongue-in-cheek!

happyjackjane We'll be building a "cabin" soon, and I already told my husband, "No dead animals are allowed in the cabin". I like most of the other ideas. I did find a needlepoint kit with all manner of animals portrayed on it (a sampler). It may be done by the time the "cabin" is done! ;-P

marriet1 I like barn doors and cast iron pots. Pendleton quilts are great as are Hudson Bay blankets. I think a lot of these items are ok, though not all in one room. My husband had a number of these when I met him. (no antlers) Guess it spoke of an outdoor life and simplicity, which I liked.

137grove In my family room we have a carved wood moose head. During Christmas time we hang colorful glass balls on ribbon! Very fun. I agree with some of the comments about this idea book being over kill but the drawings are beautiful. I am perfectly content with my leather sofas, fire place, Hudson bay blanket and my carved moose head who we name Bucky

RusticSinks.com I think "new" rustic pieces are fitting in with more modern homes. You will now see copper used more in kitchens and baths that give a rustic, warm, and livable look. See how a "new" copper bucket sink on granite will still give that rustic look for not a old, ugly piece.
