While Pantone thoughtfully named Emerald 2013's overall Color of the Year, I propose crowning sea-glass green — like Benjamin Moore's Palladian Blue HC-144 and Sherwin-Williams' Sea Salt 6204 — as 2013's top interior paint color. This popular hue is a soft and airy color that combines the blue of the sky, the green of the ocean and the opalescence of a pearl.
Appropriate in all types of rooms with any style of architecture, sea-glass green especially shines in light-filled spaces. Bright white ceilings and moldings also contrast beautifully alongside it. In this new year, consider giving your walls a facelift with one of the airiest color out there!

Crown molding painted in Benjamin Moore's White Dove OC17 and Arts and Crafts–style window trim contrast beautifully with Palladian Blue walls.

| I'm especially fond of using misty hues like Sherwin-Williams' Sea Salt in bathrooms, where their watery undertones are especially befitting. |

Osborne & Little's Langdale fabric features a range of seaside colors and looks excellent as the cornice fabric alongside light oceanic walls here.

Light bounces around the walls (in Benjamin Moore's Palladian Blue) and on the cabinets (in White Dove) in this bright kitchen, thanks to the many windows, including the half-circle window above the sink.

Light turquoise walls are especially appropriate paired with architectural gems like a transom window, five-panel pocket doors and Arts and Crafts interior trim.
| Colors similar to sea glass, like Benjamin Moore's Woodlawn Blue HC-147, also particularly thrive in light-filled spaces. Tell us: What hue gets your vote as 2013's most striking wall color? |

I love the combination of sea glass and red.
Holli Williamson, we did the corresponding kids' bedroom with Woodlawn Blue walls, while woodwork and ceiling. we have red and coral oriental carpets and red (with pattern) duvet covers on the beds and it looks great! Go for it!
You colours you have used in your new bathroom sound very similar to the colour scheme I have in mind for my bathroom reno and I was wondering if there is any chance you had a photo? I am a big fan of blues, blue greys and sea colours and I got this great vision of exactly how I want my bathroom to be but I am a little scared I'll waver and give into something mundane, and that others will find it too dark. I am planning on using a mid blue grey granite on the walls with a small iridescent tile (natural pewter/gold tones with bluish tones) used sparingly as thin widely spaced horizontal lines and possibly in some panels or as an alchove in the shower or behind bath. Its this tile that really inspired me but of course its expensive. I am hoping to keep the bathroom very light and airy by knocking out a wall then popping it out (as an atrium window) and having a large window with a centrally place vanity as a feature in this wall, again maybe using the tiles as a surround to the mirror above the centrally placed vanity.
Seeing what you have done may help to keep me focused. Thankyou
- (if its all too hard I understand as I recently took some photos of my bathroom to show architect and they looked awful)!!

I have changed the things in the room periodically, yellow and red accents at first, then brown and red, then lavender and blue; I like change but the color endures!
