1. Basic built-in bunk bed. Houzz readers loved the custom, grown-up color of this built-in bunk bed. Several even wanted this space-saving solution for their guest rooms.

2. Texas tweens' crafts and homework space. An upgrade from the average play area, this room works as a combined homework and crafts space for tweens and teens. Plenty of custom storage — visible and hidden — keeps things neat and clean.

3. Cozy kids' window seat in North Carolina. In lieu of a playroom, a cozy nook with space for games and books like this one might be the perfect spot for your little one.

4. Dream Nashville tree house. Nearly every kid wants a tree house, and it's hard to dream up one better than this. The mix of modern design and pure playfulness (such as the bucket for raising and lowering treasures) makes for a dream two-story getaway.

5. Pink and purple done right in Connecticut. Purple and pink don't have to accompany an outrageous design. Houzzers saved this photo for its timeless take on two feminine colors.

6. Simple, elegant Kansas nursery. Although this lovely nursery was designed for a boy, Houzz readers enjoyed its unisex side. Soothing colors and simple patterns combine in a classic space that can easily transform into a toddler's room later on.

7. Lofted playspace in Massachusetts. Kids love secret hideaways, like this loft built for a girl. A homework station below and a playspace above help divide work time and playtime.

8. Colorado cabin kids' room. This dark sleepover space has just enough of a dungeon vibe to feel fun but not spooky. Stone walls, weathered wood and iron railings flow with the rest of the cabin's style.

9. Sophisticated San Francisco nursery. Houzzers couldn't get enough of the graphic patterns and playful colors in this nursery for a baby girl. While most of the furnishings could work in a master bedroom, the pom-poms and other fun touches keep the room youthful.

10. Modern and colorful California nursery. A few clever swipes of paint may be all you need to update your child's room. A striped ceiling, bright yellow bookshelves and bold textiles combine beautifully in this modern nursery.

Marina Klima Goldberg - Klima Design Group I have to admit that I like all the rooms but #9 makes me happy.

John Whipple - By Any Design ltd. All my girls love these Exercise rings I installed. There is four in total and they can go from bed to bed in the room.

The design would have been better if the landing zone was not right above the kitchen since the heavy drops on occassion blow out a pot light's bulb.

I planned this from the framing stage and double up the rafters and used some heavy duty gate hardware and turn buckles to lock the anchor to the ceiling.

It's shocking how many kids are so out of shape. Many of my daughters friends are not strong enough to do a flip. Weak core strength. These rings are good to go rain or shine and provide my kids lots of fun when their "Bored".

Becky {this is happiness} I adore all these amazing spaces! Love seeing all the fun, creative ideas in these kids' rooms.

In our playroom, I wanted a place to help my kids organize their toys easily, but still wanted the space to be pretty. My goal was to make the space functional, cheerful and very kid friendly. Everything has a place, which makes clean up a lot easier for my children and myself! It's definitely a space in our home that makes me smile :)

You can see more of this space here: http://thisishappinessblog.blogspot.com/2012/10/toy-organization-part-one.html

Springhouse Shop & Studio Really lovely spaces and some nice examples of how paint choice, built-in cabinets, and the right furniture can help make a room. These rooms look so tasteful they appeal to larger people/kids at heart, too. (btw- We recently installed bunk beds for 4 kids who liked to sleep in one room!)
