Campaign Tables Lead the Charge for Chic
Snagged from military use by home interiors, this classic table has ascended the style ranks and proved its loyalty to versatility
Houzz Contributor. Fresh out of journalism school, I fell into decorating media and immediately discovered a new passion. An Atlanta native, I spent several years as an editor for Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles magazine before making the leap to national publications and websites such as Houzz, Better Homes and Gardens and Southern Accents. I live in Birmingham, Alabama, with my husband and son, who’ve gotten used to coming home and finding the furniture rearranged. When I'm not dragging case goods across the floor, I enjoy good food and wine, college football, music of all kinds, and traveling.

French campaign tables, with their slender lines and accordion-style bases, have such an air of adventure and romance about them. Also known as gueridons, they were originally used during military operations because they were so easy to transport. Today you're more likely to see them in the home than on the battlefield — their slim profile, timeless form and portability put them among the most versatile of design classics.
A freestanding tub often requires a table or other surface nearby to hold sundries. The campaign style is perfect for this airy bathroom — a visual featherweight, it has no heavy lines to weigh down the space.

| Campaign tables don't always work well on either side of a sofa; they're just too small in most cases. However, this broader-based square style suits the scale nicely. |

gschneider Adore the nursery vignette. And it's always nice to have a handy little place for a cup of coffee or what-not nearby a chair. What a great little deal from Urban Outfitters if you're looking for something like this.
