1. Single-wall savvy in New York. A stacked washer and dryer can save space, as seen in this simple laundry room. Houzzers liked how the laundry area took up only one tiny wall — an idea that can easily work in smaller homes.
by Tarallo Kitchen and Bath, Inc.
2. Purple cabinetry in Minnesota. Purple cabinetry is a bold choice, but this laundry room tones it down with gray undertones. The etched detail on the sink, traditional hardware and warm wall color help tie the rest of this quaint room together.

3. Colorful Minneapolis laundry area. Small spaces like laundry rooms can be great places for bold color. Houzzers took a cue from this one, saving this photo for its brightly painted shelves and handy hang-dry space.

4. Violet walls and marble floors in California. Purple laundry rooms were a hit in 2012! The contrast between the rich wall color and the marble countertops and floor tile here makes it easy to forget that this attractive space is actually a laundry room.

5. Smart storage in Brooklyn. Different cabinetry types in this New York laundry room inspired Houzz readers to mix up storage ideas in their own homes. Wire drawers, deep cabinetry and shelving above the washer help keep everything neat.

6. Witty labels in San Francisco. Frosted glass cabinet doors help streamline the laundry process. Houzzers also noted the handy stainless steel table on top of the washer and dryer, perfect for folding clothes as soon as they're dry.

7. Small space with stained glass. A stacked washer and dryer, a small sink and a spot for hanging clothes make the most out of limited square footage. Houzz readers also loved the beautiful stained glass window.

8. Patterned walls and floors in Southern California. A narrow setup gets a bold treatment with patterned wallpaper and checkered marble floors. Houzz readers saved this photo for its fun pattern play but also noted the smart layout.

9. Warm brick floors in Kentucky. The herringbone brick floor adds an unexpected element to this cozy laundry room. Houzzers loved the burst of color from the glossy turquoise ceiling too — and, of course, a few mentioned the sweet cat.

10. Custom drying drawers in Washington. This creative idea eliminates the need for bulky drying racks in a laundry room with limited space. Custom drying drawers like these can hold delicates and other small items that need to air dry.

Home Decorating Shop UK Excellent. Great photography, interesting selection of rooms, and original theme. I've never seen a top 10 list for something like a laundry room before.

madeleinejs I live in Italy, where practically no one (including me) owns a dryer. It's easier on clothes and kinder to the environment. Yes, Italians iron more. But with fewer (and usually nicer) clothes and with fewer loads of laundry and drying, I doubt Italians spend much more time on laundry. Moreover, if items are hung neatly, they do not need ironing like things from a dryer do. Air drying clothes puts moisture in the air when it's dry in the winter. And need I add that Italians look good too.

scarbowcow I'm puzzled by the perspective in the last picture. The pull-out drying racks are wonderfully clever... but it looks like the iron is only a few inches away from the ceiling, and the potted plant in the foreground is actually touching the ceiling. And yet that looks like a washing machine under the pull-out in the foreground, and it would seem to be resting on the floor. Does anyone know the 'real' room and can explain how a normal-sized person stands up in that room?

astraea Gee, I thought I had a fairly nice laundry within my basement utility room .. vinyl tile flooring, more space with a tankless water heater, hanging cabinet & shelf space. But how that that compare with these laundries in totally finished rooms .. windows, ceilings (instead of exposed beams & wiring), pretty walls unmarred by electrical panels & utility meters, beautiful cabinetry instead of hand-me-downs replaced elsewhere in the house?

patscats2 These are lovely but the one with the patterned floor and wealls gives me a headache just looking at it. I can't imagine actually having to go in there to do anything without the urge to run out really fast.

calikym I spend so much time in my laundry room, unfortunately. Maybe one day someone will design a laundry room with that in mind... Best one ever was situated with a door to the backyard and pool. :) now that's a laundry room!

wantsideas Love these laundry rooms. Currently have a laundry "closet" with washer and dryer side by side behind louvered doors on the main level which works but wish I had a little more space. Only alternative is moving it to the basement but then bedrooms are two flights away!

sherryglewis I made a last minute change in plans when my home was being buildt. I changed a bedroom into a Laundry room. I LOVE IT. Best decision I made. It has become so much more than a laundry room. I am just now looking at ways to sort of decorate it and make it more inviting.
