10 Fabulously Fanciful Bedrooms

What isn't going on in this room? There are traditional silk drapes, a zebra rug, a formal ottoman and bright pink wallpaper. It would be a daring eclectic beauty even without the graffiti mural, but add that and it's a work of art. It's so crazy and mixed up that it works.

It's one thing to chose lime green and hot pink as your colors, but it's a whole other level to use them in layers of busy patterns and bright, bold images.

This is over-the-top femininity and glamour (I think of Lana Turner or Liz Taylor when I see that peacock) combined with an eclectic mix of traditional pieces. Oh, and then there's that acrylic crystal bed from the planet Krypton.

When my son was obsessed with pirates, he got a Playmobil pirate island. The little boy whose room this is got a ship embedded in the wall and his own gangplank. Not bad.

This little girl is either going to grow up to be pageant princess, or she's going to rebel and become a punk rock biker.

Another fantasy kids' bedroom but with a clean, modern look and some real staying power. Even an adult could be happy sleeping under this tree.

See? The adults who live here are presumably happy sleeping under a tree. I love this bed.

This bedroom itself is all Zen minimalism. But the walls (or lack thereof) are pretty dramatic.

Midcentury modern meets African motifs, with just a little bit of dungeon chic thrown in for good measure.

I have truly never seen anything like this, and I have no design terms to explain it. The shapes in the ceiling and wall remind me of cells splitting. Saturated biological modern?

"Whimsical" should describe it, in my opinion, but that word's become so diluted, it's almost meaningless now.
In other news, wow, the combination of styles in that second-to-last picture. Who knew?
These are all very, uh, stimulating - I've saved some of them in my "just because" file.
Some of the designs here have so much going on, I can only imagine having very colorful nightmares.
That pink princess room makes me homicidal. Maybe it should be located just across the hall from the dungeon bedroom.
The rest I LOVE. Especially #1. There, someone really understands color, layering and the best attributes of eclecticism (as opposed to the worst, which is just a hot mess).
2) I think I have posted before that if you don't have anything nice to say at least be polite in the criticism. Of course, we live in the 21st century where 'politeness' is considered 'staid and old fashioned'. I think that's sad.
3) I, the one who loves a little bit of quirk, am most in love with the zen bedroom, the 'tree bed' and (if only it weren't pink) the peacock room with the 'bed from Krypton'. The first one looks like how my rooms would become if I had a lot of money and too much on my mind. *smiles*
Sleeping in the room with no walls would be heaven. I have french doors in my bedroom that I love to open wide (weather permitting) to sleep. I never sleep better than when the doors are open, it's cold outside and I snuggle down deep under a thick covering of blankets.
And I see lighting in the last room...a giant lighted jax piece!
Also, as it was said before me, no need to be rude. Look at what Rex Reed did to that wonderful, talented actress who is heavy in stature, but greater is so many ways. There's no place for that in the creative world.
I also am drawn to the first bedroom. It looks like a fairly small alcove. When you want to change, just paint over the walls, easy peasy. When the winter days get dark and dreary, I've been known to change a room in my home. Number one looks like it was a lot of fun doing!
Enjoyed seeing the cowboy room shown by Graf Developments too. It's always enjoyable to peak at what others are doing.
Most of that was actually reused materials from the families grannie's house out on a lonely stretch of highway in the middle of Texas. The wood siding, roof, screen door, bedroom door, and even the old oil lamp which I ran power to to create a night light for the kids. Oh, the old porch used to be the cistern that held their drinking water.
These are fun rooms. The kind you visit when you want to have fun.
The last one has shapes from a lava lamp. I like that one, too. Though the tree bed is the only one I can imagine sleeping in.
Here are a few examples below:
Anyway, you don't see the decor when your eyes are closed.
The last one, while delightful, looks computer generated to me.
The Kidney Room reminds me of when I cut up raw liver for the cat this am.
I'm not pulling your leg, honest, I'm genuinely curious!
I grew up to ride a Honda Valkyrie.
A gurls gotta do what a gurls gotta do.
And I DON'T have a beige boring item in my entire house-never had and never will.
The zen retreat reminds me of a scene from Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
I have to admit that in my case I create my spaces for my taste and to make me happy, but I really enjoy it when others comment about how great my place is and how much they wish they could do the same in their homes. When I have done something that makes all of us happy, I know I've done well.
Don't these people wear any *clothes*? Where are the closets/wardrobes.
And I'm a girl.
