mrkvndns No doubt copper sinks are beautiful, but in my kitchen (which actually get used, something I question about many of the kitchens pictured on this site) I'd be worried about how it would wear.

Charmean Neithart Interiors, LLC. I love copper sinks. I use them all the time on projects. Hands down, Native Trails makes the best copper sinks available. Take a look...

dforsyth I have a massive copper hood similar to the one in the fifth picture by Natalie DiSalvo. It is AWFUL to polish. I have tried almost every cleaner on the market and find the process extremely labor intensive. Anyone have any helpful hints to tackle this chore? It is beautiful when polished but I regret my choice of material.

Charmean Neithart Interiors, LLC. Hi dforsyth.
Have you ever considered not polishing it at all? One of the reasons I love copper is it is always changing. The patina is part of its rustic charm. Patina'd copper is quite beautiful, in my opinion. I like the way copper receives its environment and then you see that reaction. It's elegant in an organic way. Try leaving it alone for awhile, you might learn to like the patina. Hope that helps. ldseverson Bar Keepers Friend makes a copper polish. I order it from Amazon. I purchased a house with copper sinks in the master bath. They look great but It's too much work to maintain.

Shirlee I've had my copper sink for ten years now and I still love it today as much as I did when we installed it in our new kitchen. Does it get banged up and scratched... most definitely but that only adds to the character of the sink/room.

I let it patina more than I don't. It's major work to keep it clean and shiny but the patina is also a very great look if the kitchen is designed with that in mind. I love copper and brass together so I also have brass wall plates/switch plates and two copper & brass lighting fixtures as well as a copper and brass single lever faucet with a rose wood covered handle in the kitchen/dining room which pulls it all together.

Copper sinks aren't for every one but I can say that whether it is bright and shines like a new copper penny or if it looks weathered by the patina... both add charm and character to an otherwise ordinary kitchen.

And... the ugly ceiling fan was replaced with a copper/brass lighting fixture after this photo was taken

Shirlee Dforsyth... when I clean my sink I use a copper cream made by Wright's. It works very well. Hope that helps and you fall in love with your copper hood again.

* this photo is not upside down on my computer but it has a mind of its own. At least you get the visual idea of what to look for when you stand on your head at the super market to locate this product. ha ha

ljdemarco I have a double, hammered copper sink in my kitchen that is used by a family of five every day. It is my favorite part of my kitchen. It is the best sink I have ever used and is incredibly easy to care for. I wipe it down at the end of the day and use Patina Protector from Signature Hardware every few weeks to keep it looking beautiful. I would highly recommend a copper sink to anyone who actually uses their kitchen.

swan12 As a lot of you, I was a little more than nervous about buying a copper sink. I assumed the upkeep would be constant, but I was so wrong! We installed this sink over 4 yrs ago and the only upkeep is an occasional wiping with oil. This is the original finish and it goes best with our rustic little powder room. PS we got this sink at a closeout for only $30!

Shirlee WOW Swan... you were very fortunate because that kind of bargain is not often found. To find a copper sink for $30 dollars really shocks me... When I shopped for a copper sink it was difficult to find anyone that could even special order them... I was working for a major DIY warehouse that fortunately could order the sink I located. Problem was that I had to wait awhile to get it through customs since it was from Herbeaux, France. It costed me (excuse the pun here...) a pretty penny. (((smile))). Between the copper and brass faucet and the sink, it was nearly $3,000.

swan12 We found this at our local DIY store at their annual closeout parking lot sale. It was a return that they discounted rather than send it back. They had it marked at $50 and we offered them $30....I know...it was our lucky day!

mcbriec My current house has nothing but hammered copper sinks that all have a darkened old world patina. They are the easiest thing in the world unless you want that bright, un-patinaed finish which looks very unnatural to me and would indeed be difficult to maintain. If you're not comfortable with patina, they are not a practical choice. If you like a rustic, old world look, they are unbeatable.

moresparkly We did a hammered copper sink in our last kitchen-it was beautiful and easy to clean-we are in the process of rennovating the kitchen in our new home and I'd love to do copper again in a white and navy kitchen. We ordered ours direct from Mexico and it was not extravagently expensive-on par with stainless sinks.

gpraceman We are doing a major remodel very soon and already got a hammered copper apron sink. It looks great. Our kids call it a bathtub, since it looks so big but it is no bigger than our current SS sink. It just doesn't have the center divider like the SS one. Found the sink online at Home Depot for $699 but bought from Menards when they put it on sale for $559 with free shipping. That seems to be a steal of a deal. Reviews on the sink were overwhelmingly positive.
