Houzz Contributor. I started drawing as a child, from the time I could pick up a pen, and my father and mother encouraged my interest in artl. My father, a physician and WWII veteran (flight navigator in Europe) was also a painter who was passionate about his art. He and my mom were also great fans of the work of New Yorker cartoonist James Thurber, so I grew up surrounded by his books and art. My Dad showed me the work of classical artists and told me never to give up and never to compromise my vision. As a sophomore in college (Theater Arts, University of Southern California) I had an "aha" moment, when I realized I didn't want to just be an actress.
