Great Color Combo: Pink and Brown (4 comments)

Share:
Pink and brown is not an unusual color combination. However, it can definitely be done in unique ways to make your home look special.

This color combination is most commonly seen in nurseries and little girls' rooms (as are many versions of pink in the home). When turned into polka dots and stripes, it's also popular with tween and teen girls.

It's definitely possible to grow up this color combination, though, making it suitable for the adult bedroom as well as for other spaces in the home. Choosing a light pink with a dark brown is the best way to achieve this but even hot pinks will work when selected carefully and paired with the right shades of brown.

The key here is generally that the brown should ground the room. Pink is airy and light and bold and feminine. The brown brings a heavier tone to the space that makes it more grown-up. Play around with this combination of light and heavy and you could come up with a stunning design for your home.
I admit that this is the first design style that comes to mind when I think of the pink/brown color combo. That's because pink and brown polka dots have become very popular as decor for girls' rooms. It's a great start for exploring this color combination.

Here is another example of the pink and brown girls room. The polka dot theme is maintained a little bit in the bed pillows. However, you start to see a bit of a grown-up side with the pretty pink drapes and the great four-poster brown bed.

Here we can see a much more grown-up version of the feminine combination of pink and brown. It's the little girls' room all grown up with pink plaster walls and a great decorative brown chair.

The pairing of the pink and brown blankets on this bed is a nice touch for the room. It adds to the fantasy of the angel wings on the wall without overdoing the magical feeling.

Here is a very soft combination of pink and brown that really shows off how this color combination can be romantic. From the gorgeous wallpaper to the addition of the driftwood here, everything is perfectly pretty.

This elaborate pink wallpaper really could have gotten out of control. However, the solid brown cabinetry helps to ground the room so that the final look is boldly beautiful without being overwhelming.

When pairing these two colors, it's really all about the shade of the pink. Here, the pink wood paneling is the perfect hue. The brown statues on the shelves look great set against it.

What a great vintage piece of furniture! I like the idea of finding a single item that incorporates the shades of pink and brown that you like and then building the rest of the room around that piece.

Here is an example of what I mean - the old vintage furniture sets the tone for the rest of the decor here. Personally I'd add a pop of pink in some art on the walls but otherwise I think this is great!

Check out the gorgeous fabric on the stool here. It incorporates a bit of brown and a bit of pink but neither color is particularly dominant. Combined with other neutral colors, it makes for a very gorgeous fabric that would work well on many different pieces of furniture.

The right choice of pink and brown could even allow for a masculine feeling in the room. For example, this light pink and brown monogrammed rug would look manly if the rest of the bedroom decor were also masculine. You don't need a lot of pink in a brown room to make a statement.

i recently did a guest room in our place with pink and brown as colour combination
here is how it looks like
I really like the light and airy layouts for the guest bedroom above! Im a renter so, unfortunatly i have many limitations in which i can make their house, into my "home" without stepping on toes! These ideas are great though! With a little spash of light colors and using the darker colors as the accents, i hope i can come up with a great Pink & Brown theme myself!
This brings me back. My first apartment on my own in the early 80's was a study in pink and brown...I truly loved it. I was on a very tight budget...for a dining room light fixture I used one of those large round paper lanterns from Cost Plus...in pink. The carpet in the apartment was chocolate brown so it worked in my favor. Almost made me forget that I was living in Van Nuys...LOL.
i love the design and how the it is organize, its very clean and perfect.i'll use it in my new room :-) thanks, hope its ok.
