The throw pillow on the bed says it all. With bright, lemony yellows and walls the color of the morning sky, this space radiates sunshine and good cheer even on the darkest of days. Painting the ceiling a paler shade of yellow would warm it even more.

This room is traditional at heart. But look closer and you'll spot sultry hints of the tropics peeking through, from the botanical-print cushions on the upholstered bench to the summery palette. Red notes add a little heat and spice.

Oversize yellow gingham and two shades of turquoise — think of the water gradually darkening as it deepens — brighten this cottage-style breakfast area.

Cue Sebastian the crab singing "Under the Sea." Blue walls give this space the sense of being on the ocean floor, with aqua and yellow notes just like the shallows and sunshine above.

These lacquered turquoise doors and shelves simply glow, and the luminous yellow chairs appear to float against them.
Painting this recessed desk area pale blue is a brilliant touch. It feels just like a little window looking out toward a sunny sky. I'd put a big, leafy tropical plant nearby to give it the feel of a little island pied-à-terre.

You don't have to drench a whole space in blue and yellow to create a warm-weather effect. This one does the job with a few well-placed accents: blue upholstery, a yellow-painted chest, showy artwork.

The bath here uses natural light to beautiful effect. Streaming through the skylights, it heightens the intensity of the golden yellow tile and turquoise cupboard even on cloudy days.

susanintoronto We are repainting the main floor of our little house. The rooms were all painted yellow years ago (deeper yellow in the living and dining rooms), paler yellow in the kitchen. Now we're redoing the living room and dining room BM Cloud White, but we're going to paint 1 wall in each room Bahaman Sea Blue (a fairly vibrant colour). The kitchen will be repainted in yellow and I'm going to use the Sea Blue on the back door. I can't wait!

Michele Lister I love tropical colours, my living room is yellow with turquoise accents. I keep thinking that if we are going to sell I'll have to tone it down and trade the yellow for beige but I just can't do it yet, it just makes me too happy!

California Fence Company Turquoise and yellow is such a gorgeous combination! It brightens up the entire room and is the colors are very fresh and happy. They go well with each other and is a great option for bedrooms. Especially will suit young couples, teenagers, guest rooms etc. I really loved the pictures that you shared http://californiafenceco.com/

Jean Corey My parent's 50's kitchen had light turquoise painted cabinetry, light yellow tile with burgundy trim counters, and a real linoleum floor that had a yellow background with multi color flecks in it and banded on the edges with dark red. I am surprised when I think about it how fondly I recall that harmonious mix of color and pattern.

ebostwick I painted our re-purposed bathroom doors turquoise (to match a picture we took in the BVIs) and have flirted with the idea of painting our rustic wooden vanity (with re-enameled farmhouse sink) in Lemon Freeze by Benjamin Moore - but my husband may not agree!

Paintings by Kirsten Elizabeth Gilmore Lovely colors here! The lemony yellows in this article also go well with a cooler blue, like in this recent, canvas painting of mine.

maddecorator Not exactly a room, but my potting shed has these colors. I made the shutters, window box, and cupola myself.

Desiree Marietta when we renovated last year, I chose sunny yellow walls with white trimmings (much like the 2nd photo). this ideabook makes me want to add blue/turquoise accents all around the house!

vegaspat This article made me smile widely! My living room is painted turquoise and the kitchen (which makes the living room "L" shaped) is bright yellow. My heart sings whenever I enter the space. I especially like that my painter put the yellow on the ceiling of the kitchen, a wonderful surprise. How can you not be happy in a colorful space?
