10 Stylish Bedrooms With a Decidedly Masculine Vibe
Cut the fluff and get right to the point with crisper edges, toned-down colors and a whole lot less stuff

Once you start declaring something masculine or feminine, you get into dangerous territory. Because of course there are men who love pink and women who have never met a ruffle they could stand.
There are, however, certain qualities and materials associated with a more masculine aesthetic. Things like flannel, leather and wool tend to evoke a manly vibe. As do colors like gray, black, brown and blue. Straight lines and hard edges read as masculine, as does an absence of bright colors.
These 10 bedrooms can all be considered masculine spaces. They are not all exactly the same, and they are not for men only. But they do answer the question of how to create a stylish, comfortable bedroom if you tend toward the concrete and simple rather than the cushy and lavish.

Crisp pleats, crisp folds and crisp lines. Everything is planes and lines.

Black and charcoal dominate this elegant modern bedroom. When you go this dramatic, very little embellishment is called for.

Masculine doesn't have to mean dark. A combination of whites and tans keeps it bright but without any unnecessary frills.

Few things say manly better than man's best friend.
This bedroom is plush and snug but in classically masculine patterns and textures: plaid, flannel and formal pleats.

An eclectic take on the masculine room. The grays and muted blue make it seem serious and even a bit somber, but it's not dark. In fact, it's filled with light.
Doesn't the sculpture above the bed look like swords and a shield? The rest is pretty manly too, but that piece is practically thumping its chest.

Another thing masculine rooms have in common is an utter lack of clutter. In fact, an utter lack of stuff. Color and shape stand out when they are not competing with much else.
I love this take on cozy masculinity. In fact, I love everything about this elegant, light-filled room, including its strong bones and sturdy simplicity.

For the surfer dude with good design sense.

Loooved these styles though, thank you!
I actually agree with every word you said and understand completely how 'dangerous' it seems to be designing according to gender, so thanks for taking a stab at it. The variety of design directions you've shown are an excellent start and would love to see more ideas in the near future. Keep up the good work!
btw I have never met a surfer that had a bedroom that sano in my life, but I love all the rooms you chose.
The elliptical sculpture was designed by me, the client had 2 old spears that i then mounted on copper, bronze and the exotic wood. It sits off the wall and is lit from behind, it took 4 men to carry it in and mount it in the concrete wall. As yet i haven't seen an obituary for my client so it's still hanging steady!
Thank you for your compliment, regards, Susan
