There are tasteful and simple ways to add some interest and elegance to your bathroom. Bathrooms must be functional! Who cares what the bathroom looks like when the towels are rolled and folded and the soap is in a wrapper? I want a bathroom that looks good in real life, i.e. racks that can accommodate drying towels and a *convenient* place to store (unattractive but necessary) toiletries. Many of these look nice now, but once you bring in toothpaste, sunscreen, shaving supplies, and make-up...not so much, unless there is an easy place to put them. Covered storage (ideally drawers or a generous cabinet) is a must.

Thank you for sharing, but I am shocked at the one with “the lone glass bottle on the counter” – placing lamps right next to the tub is extremely hazardous, it’s a lethal environment, to say the least.

Baskets on the floor, yuck! Bathroom bacteria+bathroom moisture and warmth, a nice science experiment. The metal (non-rusting?) ones are slightly better, but I still don't want to store my towels and washcloths on the bathroom floor.

Love the fifth photo, with the dark gray paint and black "sitckies;" sooo many houses on the SF Peninsula have that green bathroom tile, and this is the first time I've seen a way to make it look sophisticated.

You have raised some really valid points. I think every household can benefit from having more storage spaces. Not only it serves its own purpose (storage!), it is also good for keeping your bathroom tidy, hiding all the little 'bits and pieces'.
