halemama I agree with this review! We have had ours for a couple of weeks and what I have learned is - this is not a table for small kids. Especially ones that hate splinters. :-) I am so afraid my kids will spill something that I can't wipe, they are not allowed to eat at this table.....sort of defeats the purpose of buying a "rough" table that they can abuse (my original plan)....I LOVE the look of this table and get many compliments, but I just spent an hour sanding it.....it looks fine after a deep sanding. Just know that it's not a smooth finish at all.......
