White Oak Floors - Live Sawn
Allegheny's Live Sawn White Oak is an exclusive floor that creates a stunning hardwood floor while minimizing the amount of waste created in the process.
The boards incorporate the full range of the log's characteristics due to how it's straight cut. It's sawed from the outside diameter through to the heartwood. The results are a unique balance and mix of clear and natural grades with grain direction varying from plain sawn to rift & quartered.
There are various reasons why an Allegheny Live Sawn Floor is more environmentally friendly. Mother Nature did a nice job growing her trees and we don't want to waste it! Having the character in your hardwood floors reflects on the natural beauty that was created. Wood isn't wasted cutting out the knots. The manner in which the live sawn has less waste because fewer cuts are needed and since the log is turned only once, volume loss to to slabbing is reduced.
We can produce up to 12" wide planks with confidence in its stability due to our precise drying techniques.
