Clever custom design for thoses of us with dogs! I would guess the width of the island is about 48".

Outside to outside it is about 54" wide. The island is full-depth cabinets (and appliances) back to back so the interior of the dish area is approximately 48".

Valspar's Mount Saint Anne is a similar color.

This particular top has been sealed with a special sealer, so it needs to be treated somewhat carefully - no cutting on it! The sealer makes it more resistant to water, which is important because of the sink.

You can also leave butcherblock unsealed, in which case it can be oiled with mineral oil to deepen the color and add a small amount of resistance to water and other liquids, but it will never be completely impervious to staining. Butcherblock can be sanded down to repair scratches and scars.

Some people like the patina that comes with usage and wear. If you don't, and prefer a material that always looks pristine, this may not be the surface material for you.

Sure it can. You need plumber, but it would work. My question is how would you sanitize it daily?

I've googled this very idea many times, hoping to find something to tap into either the kitchen or laundry room. If anyone figures it out, please share it.

With regards to sanitization, the bowl would have to be removeable, I'd imagine having a couple on hand so that I can run them through the dishwasher without interupting my pups.

The tricky issue seems to be how to control the flow so they have fresh recirculating water that doesn't overflow.

You just need a float valve like you would use in a toilet or a pond or a fountain and then a gravity feed like the two part dog water dishes. That is where my imagination ends and the how to sanitize issue comes in. A good plumber is your best bet. Sorry, but I can't see this as a DIY project.

Google "Nelson waterers". They've used this idea for horses and cattle for many years, and recently added a dog waterer to their products. We have horses and the waterers have lasted over 10 years outdoors. The stainless steel bowls are under a lipped cover that releases easily for cleaning. I haven't seen the dog waterers in action, but we rinse the hose bowls daily - so I can say it is easy.

Yes, two food dishes and a water bowl in the center.

The material for this ceiling comes in big stamped-metal panels (usually 24" square) that are applied with glue or nails. Some companies even make them for use in standard dropped ceilings. These aren't actually pulls....they're cutouts in the drawerhead itself.
So technically you could make them any shape you want!

These are wide-plank hard pine floors, and yes, they're 8" wide.
Unfortunately the stain color was a custom mix so I can't give you an exact name, but it was made from a composite of Minwax colors.

If you are replacing your floors, consider bamboo flooring. It's a sustainable and affordable alternative hardwood flooring. Certain strand bamboos are also even harder than wood floors, and the woven nature of the grass makes them very resistant to water and stains -- great for pet accidents. Laminate floors are also an option, but I have heard problems with staining, plus you can't refinish them if they do. Wood flooring gets scratched, but I think it adds beautiful character to a home, and you can always keep your dog’s nails nice and manicured. With any hard surface, remember that dogs have a harder time grasping the surface, so some outdoor rugs or easily cleaned rugs are helpful.

Try real Linoleum. It is green, made from wood shavings and linseed oil. The distributor in this country is Forbo. Product is called Marmoleum. It is used in malss and will withstand nearly anything.
