What cookware set should I buy?


One of the easiest ways to stock up on your cookware supplies is to buy a set. The size usually ranges from a seven-piece size to a 15-piece size, though of course there are more specialized sets for the expert cooks. At the minimum, your cookware set should include large and small sauce pans with lids, a stockpot with a lid and a fry pan. For more diversity, try a 12-piece set, which includes the basics as well as a covered saute pan and a smaller frying pan or skillet.

What specialty kitchenware pieces should I buy?


If you already have a standard set, now it's time to specialize! Grill pans and griddles are always popular additions, while dutch ovens are functional as well as beautiful countertop accessories. Kettles are great for making tea on cold, rainy days, and roasting pans work well for turkey and chicken. Of course, when you buy it, you store it, so think about what you make the most, and buy new pieces according to your personal preferences.

What cookware material works best?


Should you buy stainless steel, copper, aluminum or cast iron cookware? This is an age-old question that all depends on your budget and cooking concerns. Stainless steel is nonreactive, heavy-duty and fairly affordable, though an uneven heat distribution means your cooking might suffer. Copper pots offer more even cooking but often leave a metallic taste in some foods. Aluminum is lightweight and budget-friendly, though it can warp or scratch with high heat and might not last as long. Finally, cast iron is durable and heats evenly, though it is pretty heavy and takes awhile to heat up.
